I am really uncomfortable with the Biden camp dragging Chris Coons’ kid into their defense narrative.
She was a child when it happened. She’s still a child. She hasn’t spoken about it. Leave her alone.
At dinner tonight I suggested that it might have been okay if Coons had said, “My daughter asked me to say...”

My sixteen-year-old daughter immediately gave me nine (nine!) reasons why it wouldn’t have been.
Sometimes dads should just shut up.
Hold on. The kid is texting me the nine reasons, and asking me to share them with you.
1. The power dynamic already of talking about something like this about a former Vice President
2. Her father is a senator from the same party who most likely will want to be able to support him, and will want to get a confirmation of no discomfort
3. She may not want to come out against someone running for president
4. Not many teenage girls would want to tell their dad at 17 or 18 even without all of this
5. It was years ago. She may not be able to pinpoint her exact feeling about it or may be conflicted about the situation
6. She may have political opinions on him besides her personal memories about him that would impact her wanting to come forward
7. Many people do not want to come out with stories like this even when they are adults, and she is still a teenager, it would be hard in any situation
8. She may or may not have been creeped out, but either way her dad could not have read her mind and it was a complicated situation where her dad should not have been speaking for her
I am being informed that she only offered eight reasons, not nine. My bad.
