Oh, yay. "I find the prospect of something by Seanan McGuire being nominated every year a bit disturbing." has resumed, in regards to Best Series. I only have two repeatedly eligible series. Give me a Hugo and I won't be there every year.
Like, I can't say I'll ever be there again, because nominations are not a right. But I write fast and prolifically, and people seem to like me, so I keep cropping up.
And not to say she didn't deserve it, because she did, but Lois McMaster Bujold WON two years in a row--this is only the category's third year--and if she can win twice without getting this kind of grumble, well.
(And I'd have seen it if she had. Since we're both lady-type people, this feels less like sexism, and more like I write the wrong kind of series. Icky icky urban fantasy, instead of awesome, respectable space opera.)
It's cool if you don't like my work. Not everyone does. Not everything on this year's ballot is 100% to my taste either, which is good, since voting would be impossible if every single thing were my new favorite. But if you could refrain from pissing in my cereal bowl...
...for fifteen minutes, that would be amazing. And if you want to see me on less of your ballot next year, a vote for Toby is a vote for taking those books out of consideration forever. Give me a Hugo! Free up a slot!
