Of 7 female senators in the class of 2019-2023, 5 are PDP from SS & SE with 2 APC from Adamawa & Lagos.

APC has 8 women in HoR: 2 NC, 3 NE & 3 SW while PDP has 2 from SE & NC with 1 APGA member from Benue

3 new female deputy govs are in Kaduna (APC); Enugu (PDP) & Ogun (APC)
Based on current data 17 states will have no female legislators in SHAs between 2019-2023:

Abia
Edo
Sokoto
Kano
Kogi
Nassarawa
Bauchi
Gombe
Ogun
Kwara
Kebbi
Katsina
Jigawa
Since 2011 number of women in Senate has held steady at 6% while number of women being elected as legislators in general has declined every election since 2007. Donors & CSOs are going to have to be critical & reflective about efforts - the challenges have been misdiagnosed

We need a national conversation about what type of elections we want, what type of EMB & the standards that EMB will be held to. This postponement cost political parties & INEC (tax payers) at least N49.B
No ifs or buts, postponement by @inecnigeria should have been earlier.
After elections, political parties & CSOs should consider suing INEC for costs & maybe citizens will file a class action suit. INEC must be more deliberate about its planning. Last minutes postponements are not acceptable.
We need strict protocols that allows for outside readiness assessment at least 2 weeks before elections & if INEC is not, the trigger for postponement happens. Our experience means we cannot rely on INEC’s self assessment of preparedness. It’s costing us too much

This year VC David Eastwood will be receiving an incentive bonus of £80,000 on top of his salary of £444,0000 (he also earns £90,000 for being chair of the #USS). He lives in a mansion owned by the uni (& pays no rent!), uses a University-owned Jaguar and is driven by a chauffeur
Worth noting is that when the bonus was set in 2015/2016, he was sitting on his own remuneration committee.

Photos 2 & 3 are from 2015/2016 & 2016/2017 - they include info re Remuneration cttee.
Meanwhile, staff at @EdgbastonPark Hotel (company set up and owned by UoB) have had a pay rise of 1p/hour, so their salaries match the new Minimum Wage rate (£8.21).

The Hotel are refusing to seek #LivingWage Accreditation and to recognise unions for new staff.

2⃣ Aside from Revenue(tax) bills, bills can originate either in the House, the Senate or both simultaneously. When the bill has been polished it goes to a vote. There are two primary types of vote & one that is considered a countermeasure. #Senate ⬇️

Dianne Feinstein began her career in 1970 when she was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. She was the 1st female president of the board in 1978 when Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk were assassinated. Feinstein discovered Milk's & and announced his death
Feinstein succeeded Moscone as Mayor of San Francisco as the 1st woman to hold that position. In 1992 Feinstein & Barbara Boxer were elected to the senate on the same ballot. They were the 1st women CA senators. In 2012 she claimed the record for the most popular votes w/ 7.75m
