This is me puzzled.

I’m spending the week in DC. In between a bunch of meetings on what the hell is going on in health policy I’m trying to figure out what the Republican “health care plan” actually is. 1/
You see Trump says we will have an amazing plan and a,axing people are working on it.

Then he says . . . Just wait til after the election.

Meanwhile the chorus from many Republicans is “we need a plan.”

They have one. 3/
BREAKING: Every single Republican in the House just aligned themselves with COMPLETE REPEAL OF THE ACA with NO replacement. This happened today April 3, 2019.

As I was saying . . .

Trump also submitted a budget which effectively has been scored by the ACA. It reveals the ACA. Medicaid expansion, pre-existing condition protections, lots of coverage loss. Something we’ve seen before.

The product of 8 years of work.

No magic plan. 5/
Back to me puzzled again (without the walking selfie).

Listening to Republicans say “we need a plan” which really means “people are blaming us for voting to take away their health care over and over. Make it stop.”

There’s a simple way to do this and an “other” way. 6/
First the “other” way— which is the most likely way.

Create another new plan that begin with the words “repeal and ...”

Unless the end of the sentence is “give every American unlimited gold bullions”, don’t even bother finishing the sentence.

7/
Also, I said there’s a simple way.

The simple way involves actually demonstrating through votes support for pre-ex protections and improvements in the ACA.

As a matter of fact, a perfect opportunity is emerging. Tonight a bill which does just that is being marked up. 8/
Seems like some good choices on how to show protections for pre-existing conditions:

1. Relive repeal and ....”
2. stick with what you’ve produced (complete repeal) or
3. actually support Americans who have pre-existing conditions (which is everyone either now or later)

8/
Which will they choose? Me, less puzzled. And needing a drink. /end
