“the dark history of socialism”

Hm. Seems fair to note dark history of capitalism, as well

1. Nazis kill 15-20 million in death camps, 9 million Soviet soldiers
2. US kills 6 million Vietnam/Korean wars
3. Bengal famine of 1943, 2-3 million dead
4. Japan kills 6-10 million WW2
Add in millions more killed in colonial wars by US (Ex. Iraq), France (Algeria), coups (Indonesia; Latin America countries, like Chile), outright assassination & torture. List could go on. Capitalism’s attacks on socialist countries helped create conditions of repression there.
Capitalist crimes in Africa deserve a special chapter of their own, so extensive & horrific were they, noting apartheid in So. Africa, military intervention as in Libya, Belgium’s horror in the Congo, or that capitalism itself built on African slave labor. Many millions died!
Those who stood for socialism & communism at least believed in human liberation, enlightened progress, equality for all, & a just society. No news there were failures there, but also some successes. Ex. No one believes Cuba was better off under Batista, or Russia under the czars
Socialism/communism found a huge mass following after CAPITALIST countries (alone and only capitalist countries) organized the mass slaughter that was World War 1. There were total of 37 million killed btw civilian and military deaths! This is what capitalism has in store for us!
Finally, we should take note of the untold millions that died because of particularly cruel exploitation, unsafe working conditions, shoddy products made to cut corners for profits (like recent Boeing 737 MAX crashes seem to be), lack of health care or proper sanitation, etc
