Last week I spent 2 days in the "Agendashift Advanced" workshop (April 2019) with @asplake, and I found new ideas and improvements across all of the #Agendashift activities: @Agendashift Evolved!
Looking back at the messy sketch notes that I made from @asplake's #Agendashift book last year, Agendashift is still organised across the same 4+1 activities: Discovery, Exploration, Mapping, Elaboration which all feed in to "Operation" (managing ideas for change).
The current #Agendashift poster also now shows that Operation is ongoing, supporting and evolving from our change ideas right from the very beginning.
With the new exercises offered as options in the different workshops, my #Agendashift sketch needs updating: Springboard, a new 5W Celebration template, Chartering (purpose), "Reverse Wardley mapping" (provisionally named?), the Outside In Strategy Review template, and others.
Many #Agendashift exercises are adopted from elsewhere and it's an important contribution from Agendashift to have selected and sequenced them so that they work coherently and effectively (wholeheartedly) together.
EG #Agendashift's assessment reveals areas of interest, the #CleanLanguage question subset replaces obstacles with outcomes to work towards, and the resulting outcomes populate the 4-Points exercise from #Cynefin. Interesting! Or flip to start to build a Wardley Map - strategic!
Previously I've taken part in the 1-day version of this #Agendashift workshop. Spreading the material over 2 days offered the space to explore that it needs - it still felt intense, but better, with more options to support my work.
I've been using #Agendashift activities and ideas in my work for over a year, helping teams find better and more effective ways of working with peers and with leadership. In my work I spread the activities (Discovery, Exploration, Mapping, Elaboration) over weeks of engagement.
The activities and insight in the #Agendashift workshop are only half the story though - the other half is the community that currently contributes to it. Mike called out thanks to @kjscotland, @lunivore, @michaelthaber for recent innovations.
The shared contributions to #Agendashift are also being reflected in #CreativeCommons workshop materials shared back to the wider community. @andreachiou and @asplake released FOTO together (agendashift.com/15-minute-foto)
The #Agendashift Celebration 5W exercise (time travel/futurespective) makes a great retrospective format, and @michaelthaber and @asplake have packaged up a ready to go version of this under #CreativeCommons (blog.agendashift.com/celebration-5w/)
And #Changeban, also open and available via #CreativeCommons, has a place in the #Agendashift workshop now, revealing the need to learn from rejected experiments as well as accepted changes (plus the usual insight that it helps to limit WIP!) (agendashift.com/changeban)
The spirit of contribution was high all through the workshop too - it was great to get insight, experience, and feedback on ideas from everyone. Thanks for bringing us all together @asplake!
