Coming to #Newsnight slighly late, and wondering if I've stepped through a looking glass? Two Tories, then UKIP and Tommy Robinson. Is this the day the BBC stopped pretending to even have a semblance of bias?
No better on the panel discussion. When you have one person shouting "betrayal" and "17.4 million people" that instantly kills any chance of rational debate. Because it's impossible to counter something as irrational as that.
Also a genuinely bizarre setup to their TIG panel guest, with a question along the lines of "given the rise of far right parties, how do you have a hope in the European elections?" (paraphrased - it's late and I'm tired) Basically ignoring the 48% and the 6 million petition folk!

If you shout "betrayal" at the new Brexit deadline of 31 October, take a long hard look in the mirror. Betrayal would be leaving unprepared. Betrayal would be crashing our economy. Betrayal would be extending austerity indefinitely. Betrayal would be putting lives at risk.
What happened yesterday was pragmatism in the face of reality. It was Theresa May looking at the world as it is, not as she wanted it to be. We should have been doing that at the beginning not at the very end. But at least it happened now.
Brexit has already caused quite extraordinary damage, considering it hasn't happened yet. Perhaps this reprieve will stop the rot.

I saw #Us for a second time and I saw lots of things that I didn’t notice the first time. here’s a thread of a bunch of them. Obviously spoilers abound!!!!
early on, Gabe tells Zora that she should run in the sand under suboptimal conditions to get better at running. When she meets Umbrae, who is trained to run underground, Umbrae is faster and stronger. But Umbrae has never seen a car/windshield wipers so that’s how she gets got.
tons of foreshadowing in this movie, much of which has been discussed, but one I just caught this time was the living spider emerging from underneath the fake spider.

Hope not Hate in recent months has seized a significant amount of political power in the UK.
"The Commission for Countering Extremism has formed a new Expert Group" has Hope not Hate on the list, for example.
Here's the thing. BBC and Hope not Hate are CONFIRMED to be working together. The BBC is supposed to posture itself as an IMPARTIAL media outlet. By working with Hope not Hate, THEY ARE NOT IMPARTIAL.
