Coming to #Newsnight slighly late, and wondering if I've stepped through a looking glass? Two Tories, then UKIP and Tommy Robinson. Is this the day the BBC stopped pretending to even have a semblance of bias?
No better on the panel discussion. When you have one person shouting "betrayal" and "17.4 million people" that instantly kills any chance of rational debate. Because it's impossible to counter something as irrational as that.
Also a genuinely bizarre setup to their TIG panel guest, with a question along the lines of "given the rise of far right parties, how do you have a hope in the European elections?" (paraphrased - it's late and I'm tired) Basically ignoring the 48% and the 6 million petition folk!

Wow! Just wow! 3 days until Brexit, and Andrea Leadsom is off chasing unicorns.
My gut is this is deliberate sabotage, rather than ignorance. She wants to put the EU's backs up as May goes into the talks. I believe it's unsanctioned sabotage ie May didn't put her up to it.
But it also tees up her resignation nicely. If we get and accept a long Brexit extension, there will be a general stampede of Leavers for the door. I don't expect any of them to still be serving in Cabinet within a couple of weeks. After all, what better excuse to run away?

2. Chiariamo: dopo l'ultimo consiglio europeo, Londra ha ottenuto un rinvio della vecchia scadenza del 29 marzo, ora diventata il 12 aprile. Entro questa data, il Regno Unito deve assolutamente decidere che cosa fare, per un motivo molto semplice.

Another boring #Brexit thread.

1. People are right to observe that the EU does flex its own rules but very often when it does it is invoking emergency measures or articles inside a particular legal framework. That, though, cannot extend to #Brexit.
2. When the UK leaves it will become a third country. Standard third country treatment will apply. That new relationship could evolve to include further customs cooperation but it would have to be part of a formal agreement.
3. What the EU is not going to do is enter any agreement that compromises its own legal order. Any agreement allowing the free(ish) movement of goods would mean that any UK regulatory divergence would have to be supervised and mutually agreed.

So, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg has had a go at Sir John Major for being part of the European elite because of #Brexit. I think it is probably the time to tell a little story about JRM, how he acts and what people think of him. Are you sitting comfortably...?
Back in the day, I started out as a research assistant at Scottish @Conservatives Central Office. As you’d imagine, I’ve a lot of stories I could tell but, sadly for you, you’ll never hear them. However, JRM has provoked this with his comments about Sir John.
Back in 1997, @Jacob_Rees_Mogg was the Tory candidate for Central Fife. His passage into the seat was helped by the powers that be so that he could follow the time-honoured path of so many with the right connections of fighting some unwinnable seats before being given a safe one.
