The National newspaper's @stephenpaton134 has such a poor grasp of facts they think I'm a minister (I'm a backbencher) They're upset I shared an @thetimes leader -pasted on @Transgendertrd - on @TimesLucy 's piece on fast tracking of trans kids
@TimesLucy 's well researched piece cites five clinicians and a Professor of Evidence Based Medicine. They fear gay kids may be forced down a medical path to transition because of homophobia. These are concerns @Transgendertrd have also raised 
Paton's modus operandi here is displacement - attack me for sharing @Transgendertrd when the content I shared was actually pasted from @thetimes - which validates concerns Transgender Trend & the parents and academics supporting it have raised repeatedly
Anyone who "likes" @stephenpaton134 's implicit dismissal of @TimesLucy work, needs to think this through. Maybe read the content? We all know homophobia is real. There are also concerns about autistic children being transitioned.
Paton talks about pseudo science. The real pseudo science is the one that rushes to tell gender non conforming (or gay) kids that their sex is wrong and they must change their bodies. That's what happens in theocratic Iran. bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-…

Those are principles I applied as a journalist for years, and I apply them now in politics. Pathetic threats like this one, aimed at my party bosses, will not stop me speaking up if something looks wrong. Huge numbers of folk in @theSNP also agree with me
Asking these questions is not "anti trans". I have enormous sympathy for people who have real gender dysphoria or who reject the gender roles society imposes on people because of their sex. My actual views can be read here
I'd rather not rebut every piece of nonsense, but Paton has a platfom via @ScotNational His thread misrepresents myself & @ForwomenScot who are trying to debate respectfully. Journalists should welcome debate, not attemp to shut it down.
