1/ So I'm convinced that "reasonable people can disagree" on the major issues that split us evenly. I still struggle with this when seeing statements that appear batshit crazy.
2/ I mention this because of this The Intercept article that claims Julian Assange was "confined" in the Ecuador. Uh, no, he was free to leave any time. I can't see how anybody would call that "confined".

3/ But James Risen is a smart, educated person, so I guess even if I disagree with the assertion, that I'll have to accept that reasonable people can believe that.
4/ But what really gets to me is the seaming ignorance that others might disagree, assuming all readers will agree, asserting as a "fact" rather than a debatable point.
5/ In other words, that story is written for an audience that already agrees, rather than for an audience that either disagrees, or at least, is ignorant of the underlying issues.
