Masters work with less information, not more.

• Painters see the essence of an object.

• Investors focus on needle-moving variables.

Information is nearly-infinite, and masters know which variables to pay attention to.

Masters of attention.
Experts always surprise me.

They consistently focus on 2-3 variables. But within those variables, they see layers of nuance and shades of complexity.

They find the difference that makes the difference and devote their lives to mastering it.
Simple rules inspire excellence.

For example, Turkish prayer rug designers say that wherever there are two areas of color, side by side, you should add a third color between them.

When you do, you get a dance of color.

Deep. Simple. Powerful.

Strong opinion: We don’t talk enough about friendship.

That’s why we over-value short meetings and under-value long conversations.

Conversation gets better with time, so spend more time with great friends.

10 hours. 10 days. 10 weeks.

Exponential benefits.
It’s simple.

The single best lifestyle change I’ve made this year is spending less time in short meetings and more time in extended conversation.

Louder laughs.

Stronger friendships.
Find your tribe. Then... team up and support each other.

True story: Cavs cheerleader came up to me during ‘96 Knicks game. Said, “Are you Mike Wise from The NY Times? OMG, I read everything you write.” I went to talk to her after game and she blew me off. I walked into locker room. Patrick Ewing looked up and smiled: “April Fools.”
This was probably the greatest April Fool’s joke ever played on me. It was perpetrated by @meanbarb and Former Knicks PR director Lori Hamamoto, who got the cheerleader and Ewing to go along with the prank. And I actually thought, “Wow, attractive Cavs cheerleader reads me. Yay!”
As @meanbarb knows, I got her back by convincing her that she needed to be guest on an El Paso radio show, because they give $200 Tower Records gift certificates for guests. After several uncomfortable questions by the hosts, I got on line. Barb: “Do I still get my $200 gift?”

Marshall Mcluhan predicted WW3 would see the dividing lines between military and civilian become meaningless.

Everyone would be drawn into the conflict.

One can only engage or run away from battle.

He was wrong.

His prediction should have been about the next US Civil War.
The current landscape has three groups in conflict:

1) red insurgency
2) blue resistance
3) corporations

The resistance and the corporations are presently united against the insurgency because they have a common enemy - the Reds
The red insurgency moves with speed and overloads its enemies with information.

It's goal is to be disruptive.

They seek revenge for global trade, the financial crisis, and the end of the meritocracy. (also free speech in gaming journalism - no kidding).

Sometimes, I wish autism parents would consider the impact of their words if/when their autistic children read what they say.

Because yes, they're literally telling us that we're harder to raise than allistic children.

And saying that isn't super helpful for us.
It may be that literally the only way an "autism parent" (allistic parents of autistic children, specifically) will believe anything we have to say...

Is if their own autistic children keep pestering them about "Oh so you think I'm harder to raise? I'm more work?"
Because I apologized to mom all the time for being so difficult.

It's not a thing I should have had to do. And really... looking back, mom and I agree that I wasn't really any more or less difficult than my siblings, so whatever. :/
