Andrew Adonis writes: "Labour is committed to a referendum in this parliament on May’s Brexit deal and any other form of Brexit, with an option to stay in the EU, so Labour is the party for remainers." Bucketload of problems with that statement... theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
1) Note the "in this Parliament", which could end within weeks
2) Labour are not committed to a referendum on a Labour deal Brexit
3) Labour are not yet officially (manifesto) committed to a second referendum at all
As a consequence, Labour are *not* a party of Remain in reality!
I am conscious, when I write that, that Andrew Adonis is himself hugely pro remain (and reform). But that doesn't matter a hill of beans when there are plenty of true Remain parties to choose from!
So don't kid yourself. If Brexit's the number one burning issue for you, a vote for Labour is at best a shrug. You'll be sitting on the fence right alongside them. If you don't care, fine. If on the other hand you do care, pick again!

Different Labour politicians are all busking for their particular Brexit worldviews. They cover the spectrum from strong remainers like @Andrew_Adonis to arch leavers like @KateHoeyMP so the only way to interpret Labour's Brexit stance is to look at their official position.
And Labour's official position remains pro-Brexit. They have yet to commit at a manifesto level to holding a second referendum, and repeatedly state they honour the result of the 2016 referendum.
So if you care about Brexit above all else, vote for an explicitly pro-remain party in the European elections. Don't vote for Labour, vote for Change UK TIG, the Lib Dems, the Greens, the SNP or Plaid Cymru.

Imagine that entrants to the Olympic 100m sprint were decided like Brexit. "I'm just an ordinary guy, but 52% of people voted for me so you should let me race."
"But you're not going to win."
"52%..."
"You're not even competitive."
"52%..."
"Ok, go right ahead."
[9.7 seconds later]
"No fair, I only covered half the distance everyone else did!"
"52% got you into the race, but after that you were on your own. A vote can't give you athletic prowess you never had."
"But..."
"No buts, that's just reality."
Brexit is exactly the same. The referendum result may give us Brexit, but it can't magically give us a successful Brexit. No causal connection between the two.

52% of voters who voted voted for Leave in 2016. But that was just 37% of the registered electorate, and just 26.7% of the UK population taken as a whole. So the "majority of people in the UK" have never wanted Brexit, and repeating that lie a million times doesn't make it true.
And while we're on Brexit games with numbers, the referendum was never the "largest democratic mandate in our history". More votes were cast in the 1992 GE, and a higher turnout was achieved in the Scottish indie ref, and *many* GEs.
It is true that Leave achieved the highest total number of votes in 2016 for a given choice of outcome, but that's because a referendum only has two choices vs the multiple choices of a GE. Overall, more people participated in 1992.

EU emergency #brexit summit 10 April will start 6pm in Brussels. The PM will be invited to ‘engage’ with the 27 EU leaders +inform them of her plans/requests. She’ll then like last time be asked to leave the room while the 27 try to come to unified position required by EU law /1
Leaders are divided. No one likes idea of long #brexit delay - if PM asks for it - and it only takes one country (France in frontline) to say no - as EU decision must be unanimous BUT /2
If the UK does as EU had requested and agrees to holding European parliamentary elections as a condition for being granted a longer #Brexit delay then it’s hard to imagine EU saying no. Even if the PM only presents a vague plan of what intends to do during longer extension /3

EU has almost given up trying to understand what’s going on in UK.
Dutch PM Rutte compares Theresa May to Monty Python knight whose limbs get cut off in a duel but insists the fight was a draw. Elsewhere in EU, mood is darker esp with the prospect of a lengthy #Brexit delay 1
With UK politics mired in confusion, only thing EU can control this week is choreography at EU leaders’ summit, starting Thurs. Donald Tusk, EU Council president is visiting capitals to try to co-ordinate single EU response if/when Theresa May asks for article 50 extension 2
Today Tusk is in Berlin and Paris – the EU superpowers. But when it comes to delaying Brexit, any one of the EU’s 27 leaders has a veto. The decision must be unanimous 3

On Labour/second referendum: Corbyn seen in Europe as convinced
eurosceptic so EU is sceptical of his backing a second referendum. EU
has watched #Brexit turmoil long enough to see huge complications in
holding the vote and realise many leave voters have changed their

Of course EU would still rather UK stayed but Europe's leaders don't
see this as realistically on the cards right now. Most realistic,
