Developing an abundance mentality.

Read the whole thread if you are fucking sick and tired of living paycheck to paycheck.
I grew up in a middle class family and am extremely grateful for that opportunity.

I had the lucky chance of being born within one of the wealthiest places on the planet.

I am grateful for my family situation.
But, I have always yearned for more.

My intuition and personality are set up in such a way that I avoid mediocrity as much as possible.

I never identified with:

‘Mediocre’
‘Average’
‘Middle Class’

I intuitively understood that I am capable of excellence.
It takes an immense amount of work, momentum and self-discipline to break out of the gravitational pull of mediocrity.

In my case, this was all about financial mediocrity.

I am by no means financially wealthy yet, but I have transformed my psychology to that of wealth.
Twitter has been a major catalyst in this process of change because it has helped me gain perspective on providing value while also earning an income in exchange for that value.

I am extremely grateful for the Twitter community because of this and much more.
You don’t have to live paycheck to paycheck.

You don’t have to deal with your boss who really belongs at a Burger King.

You don’t have to live life from a place of scarcity.

You can really transform yourself on all levels:

Mentally
Physically
Emotionally
Spiritually
How did I go about this process?

1. I started to focus on providing value.

I wrote relentlessly.
I tweeted when nobody knew me.
I focused on what I could offer others.

There is no magic pill for this.

There is only:

+ Self-discipline
+ Self-awareness
+ Momentum
2. I began to learn from those who have already cultivated success.

I observed how the big players in the Twitter game went about their content and combined that with my own unique voice and perspective.

I learned through the indirect and direct mentorship of others.
3. I became obsessed.

I am currently the epitome of Twitter addiction.

I am almost always on this platform because I deeply understand that if I want to succeed, I must become obsessed.

You will not find excellence with balance.

Excellence is cultivated by the obsessed.
4. I deeply understood my signature strengths.

You can only build off of strength if you want to excel within something.

Now, that is not to say that I didn’t have to learn marketing or psychology.

But, I have always remained in touch with what I am great at.
Here are my top 5 strengths:

Love of Learning: Mastering new skills, topics, and the bodies of knowledge, whether on one’s own or formally; related to the strength of curiosity but goes beyond it to describe a tendency to add systematically to what one knows.
Perspective: Being able to provide wise counsel to others; having ways of looking at the world that makes sense to oneself/others.

Curiosity: Taking an interest in ongoing experience for its own sake; finding subjects and topics fascinating; exploring and discovering.
Self-Regulation: Regulating what one feels and does; being disciplined; controlling one’s appetites and emotions.
Appreciation of Beauty & Excellence: Noticing and appreciating beauty, excellence, and/or skilled performance in various domains of life, from nature to art to mathematics to science to every day experience.
I had to practice an enormous amount of self-awareness to cultivate that list.

But, it will be carried with me for a lifetime.

This is what you must do as well.
The road to abundance will only come when you fully understand that you think and act from a place of scarcity.

Once you begin to act from a place of abundance, everything starts to click.
To leave you guys with two bits of practical advice:

1. Start tipping: I don’t give a fuck about the economics of tipping, I just tip abundantly because I understand that I can always make more money.

2. Learn a valuable skill: All you need is 1-3 skills.
