Fascism is haunting my life, my country, my world:

1) Today a group of white supremacists demonstrated at Politics and Prose in DC, a bookstore where the last time I was there was for a talk from an historian about his book on the Nazi concentration camps
2) Today a white supremacist attacked a synagogue in San Diego, a city I was in four months ago for a wedding
3) Two days ago I heard Geert Wilders and Marine Le Pe in Prague ranting about African and Muslim birthrates and the globalists
4) A month ago I noticed a prominent "White Pride" graffiti next to a major shopping center in Prague. It hasn't been erased yet. I also noticed various anti-Islam graffiti slogans across the city
5) Last October a synagogue in Pittsburgh was attacked by a white supremacist, a city I lived in in the summer of 2015
6) In the fall of 2017 I found propaganda distributed by Identity Evropa left at night in the main entry way of my history department
7) In 2016 in the buildup to the election a sex panic against refugees from Africa, pushed by Breitbart and similar outlets, broke out in Twin Falls, Idaho, a city I grew up near and have visited dozens of times

8) As an undergrad in 2012 I heard a tenured economics professor tell me as I drove him to the airport from a talk at the business school of my university that Islam was the only truly violent religion
9) As an undergrad from 2008-2012 I heard and experienced my fair share of casual racism and nastiness but what sticks in my mind is a Marine telling me that Arabs were basically subhumans who had sex with children for pleasure and only had sex with women for reproduction
10) In high school I was made fun of by a guy who would tell me to stop acting Jewish or to not be such a Jew, even though I am not in fact Jewish. He used Jew as a casual slur for anything he didn't like
This is all just surface level stuff impacting my own experience and the places I have lived and visited. There is much more to be found if I dug deeper. And I'm not even remotely impacted by it all as others are and inevitably will be
These experiences of mine aren't coincidental, they don't stand alone. There is a pattern and a growing movement. The resurgent fascism we are experiencing is everywhere, it's a flood coming from all sides, and if we don't stop it millions of people will be killed
