/ So great, thanks @Eli_White for the being open and honest about how hard it is to build a platform. You prioritized dog fooding and taking the raw/hash feedback about performance and addressing was the right move. Here's why i'm bullish on RN...
/ Companies that are focused on Apps&Products have to do dev gymnastics to ship anything across the matrix of platforms. It's slow and bad for our entire industry.
/ The ratio of companies that are focused on Apps&Products vs platforms is 25,000,000:2. Apple and Google being the 2. And they don't care enough about our pains in App land and instead favour their platform winning over developers solving problems quickly for the planet.
/ Guess who is now in the App camp? FB and MS. They need their products available everywhere vs betting on one OS to win. Two be-moths now need to simplify App development for themselves. And trust me, they are wasting billions in cross platform development and waste.
/ So this cute little RN experiment isn't an experiment anymore. It's core to the strategy of the worlds biggest software companies. And it's based on React which is a great way to build user interfaces.
/ We've seen the team productivity gains at Shopify. But we've also seen the pain. But we believe in the problem that RN is solving and we believe that the community is growing and heading in the right direction.
/ The technical challenge that Fabric is solving around load time, native modules, and js<>native sync calls isn't insurmountable. We've done this before and if MS leans in it will happen faster. RN will get better, and quickly.
/ Kudos to the entire @reactnative team who dug deep when it was hard and pushed on. ❤️💪🏼
