1. National Emergency Shame!
I don't know if President Trump would declare national emergency, as news reports suggest, in order to reallocate a few billion dollars from a gargantuan federal budget toward funding the remaining portion of the border wall/barrier.
2. But if he does, it would be a shame, the blame for which at this point fairly and squarely falls on Nancy Pelosi and her team for being unreasonably obdurate on a measly $4 billion funding for what is clearly a high priority for the President and tens of millions of Americans.
3. Democrats, liberal media sages, and NeverTrumpers hyperventilating over this presidential move should explain why they didn't utter a peep when Obama reallocated hundreds of millions of dollars toward a UN Green Fund without any discussion and without Congressional approval.
4. When Obama did it, the 'legal' justification for spending money that Congress had not allocated was that the Congress had not explicitly forbidden reallocating any funds. Has Congress explicitly forbidden reallocation of funds now? I don't think so.

5. As for 'setting the precedent,' as I mentioned above, Obama did it with impunity and without any precedent. Democrats only pay lip service to precedent until it is their turn. Besides, Obama is the one who has set the precedent already. Let me hear you condemn him first.
6. Secondly, those anti-Trumpers threatening that a future Democratic President can use the same measure (i.e. declaring a National Emergency) to move ahead with a liberal pipe dream like #GreenNewDeal, are burying their head in the sand to miss one very important point.
7. President Trump's reallocation of funds only works for these two simple reasons:
a) It is a relatively puny amount in the federal budget
b) He has a concrete plan for spending the money with guaranteed results
8. Find me a Democratic initiative with well defined goals and measures of success that costs less than $10 billion and they can have my support right now. They don't even need to wait for winning the presidency.
9. Threatening #GreenNewDeal via declaring a National Emergency in the future is nothing short of psychotic ignorance. Where the hell are they going to reallocate trillions upon trillions of dollars from? Enough with this knee-jerk blithering nonsense.
10. All that said, I still hope President Trump reallocates a couple of billion dollars for the wall/fence as needed without going through the rigmarole of a National Emergency. Just do it the way Obama did it, only better. It's already better because it is transparent.

The End.
President Trump went ahead and declared a national emergency to get the funds to build the wall/fence. I am not entirely comfortable with the means, even as I support the objective. I wasn't comfortable when Obama did it, and I didn't even support his objective. 1/
But who cares whether I am comfortable or not? What matters is whether it is Constitutional or not. I am very glad to hear that President is very well aware of that too. Here's what he said. I give him credit for being open and honest about it. 2/
I have no problem with Nancy Pelosi asserting her right to challenge the President on this. As a matter of fact, if she believes this is unconstitutional, it is her duty to do so. If it is unconstitutional, I will support the President being stopped from doing it. 3/
But the only authority I will submit to on the question of its constitutionality is the Supreme Court of the United States. Ultimately, SCOTUS will have the final say, and I will defer to it, no matter which way it goes. That's how it works. That's how it should. 4/
Remember this though. If it is not challenged in the courts, that will be an implicit admission that it is Constitutional, no matter what blather they spout on TV shows. 5/
Also remember this. Just as it is not only Nancy Pelosi's right but her solemn duty to challenge the President if she believes it is unconstitutional, it's also not only President Trump's right but also his solemn duty to do this if he believes the border situation demands it. 6/
Let everyone proceed with the business of serving the country in the best possible way they know how. Godspeed! 7/x

The End.
