If you are interested in Charlie Munger, years ago before there were any books on him I created a collection of his thoughts at 25iq.com/quotations/cha… Access is free which is priced to sell. It will help you understand how Berkshire actually invests among other things.

Charlie Munger on accountants is similar to what he said about another profession in the Jason Zweig interview in the WSJ today: "Proper accounting is like engineering. You need a margin of safety. Thank God we don’t design bridges and airplanes the way we do accounting.”

I have cited AO3's taxonomy and archiving systems as models at academic linguistics conferences because they are IMPRESSIVE as usable, durable, well-designed systems, and frankly academia could stand to learn from fandom here
Here's an example: rights transfer and orphaning

Academic archives are patchy when the original depositor of the data dies or doesn't want to be responsible for it anymore. AO3 has a whole system in place to transfer fic to another user or leave it up without your name attached
I was literally at a conference a few years ago when an academic was like "oh yeah we just don't know how to deal with rights transfer at our archive" and I pulled up AO3's orphaning policy as a model

I was editing my mom's website when I found a random script attached to the front page.
Of course I didn't write this, so I checked it out. It was a funky code that monitors whether you are logged in certain websites... seems to be domains in China!

Taking a break from writing my comprehensive exams to give a short tribute to my dog Sirius, who died on this day 9 years ago.
Before we got him, my sister and I had begged my parents for years to get a dog, but they never really wanted one. When we though we were going to move away to another state, they finally relented. At least that’s the story we always told while he was living.
My mom only told me the real reason we got him after he died. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, and by the time we got Sirius in 2002, doctors did not give her favorable odds to survive. My mom decided to get a pet to be there with us in case the worst happened.
