I had a look back at what I wrote for @LabourList about the equivalent set of council elections in 2011. Even though we gained 26 councils & 800 cllrs, and 37% national vote share, it was self critical...
We were publicly worried that failure to gain target councils in Dover, Erewash, Thanet and Thurrock meant that Ed didn't appeal to swing voters, and that 37% just wasn't high enough in mid term.
Where is the equivalent self criticism from people as supportive of the current leader as I was of Ed, after net losses of councils & cllrs and a 28% vote share?
