Fyi, nearly 40% of all human rights activists display some symptoms of PTSD, and nearly 20% have full on PTSD. Among frontline human rights activists, the ratios are higher.
PTSD comes with the territory, and it sometimes creates this oppressive situation where people who are working very hard for humanity lead a life of daily pain and misery.
I'm here to say that we're not doomed to misery; that we can beat PTSD; and that we can indeed be happy even as we do work that involves frustration and grief. It's possible for our souls to expand beyond our wounds.
Loving yourself and caring for yourself - that's among the most revolutionary things you can do as a revolutionary.
