People often talk about people who vote Democrat, as the Democratic "base"

I cringe when I see it. Major corporations and 1%ers make up the base of both parties.

Who they convince to vote for them has nothing to do with anything other than the limited options on the table

this is part of why you just won't see radical politics come out of these parties. Even if they "care" about your interests, they are hamstrung by systems, parties and a donor class that just won't allow certain ideas at the table

There's a reason why @MikeGravel isn't ever listed among the 24 Democrats running for President. They don't want certain ideas to even come to the table. No matter how much popular support they have.

namely Imperialism is not up for debate among these parties. Neither is capitalism. Neither is truly dismantling certain institutions (prison, police, ICE, military). Which also means that Climate Change is not truly something any of them are willing to combat either

I honestly don't say any of this to be cynical or pessimistic, truly. My optimism is connected completely with working and poor people, but we have to organize, we have to fight, we have to build meaningful power - not give it up to imperialist half-steppers). That's the only way
