Board of trustees is meeting this morning at 9:30 to discuss, among a variety other things, resident tuition. About a half hour before the meeting, a group of about 20 from GTFF is gathering outside, signs in hand. 1/
The board also met yesterday, in a closed executive session, to discuss the status of bargaining with the GE's union, whose contract expired in April. 2/
Representatives from GTFF, ASUO and the LERC have lined the entrance to the meeting room.

Before their arrival, board staff could be overheard discussing alternate entrances and exits. 3/
Line to sign up for public comment is literally out the door. 4/
About 6 trustees just entered through the room’s courtyard entrance. 5/

Relative calm on the other side of the room as Board Chair Chuck Lillis opens the meeting. 7/
“We have a large number for public comment, many more than any public meeting in the past,” says Lillis, to crowd applause. 8/
After an hour of public comments on tuition, the board has moved to a five minute break. Chair Lillis expressed worry about the number left on the list.

Crowd calls, "let them speak!" 9/
Seen in the back: United Academics President Chris Sinclair has a dog.

In the front: public comment continues, with the discussion moving beyond just tuition. 10/
Former trustee Kurt Willcox, addressing current board on budget plans and priorities:

"I'm very much worried that the university has turned away from its public service mission." 11/
After outgoing ASUO leaders addressed the board, Chair Lillis called for another five minute break. Public comment now over. 12/
Meeting is back on and almost the entire crowd has left, other than regular meeting attendees. After technical difficulties with trustees conference calling into the meeting, President Schill is now formally introducing the resident tuition proposal. 13/
Trustees are not available for media after this portion of the meeting, per UO spokesperson. 14/
Lunch was supposed to begin about 15 minutes ago. A board staff member has brought in granola bars and other snacks for trustees. 15/
BREAKING: Board of trustees approves president's tuition proposal 11-1.

Sole dissenting vote from student trustee Will Paustian. 16/
Board has now gone to lunch before another session on student conduct code changes and renovations to Walton and Hamilton Halls.

Would love to stick around, but I should probably try and make at least one class today. Story from @DailyEmerald shortly! 17/17
