May is completely wrong - nay, deluded - to allege that her Leaver opponents refused to compromise. Indeed it was her utter failure to grasp that we *were* willing to compromise & did but Continuity Remainers were utterly unwilling to compromise that was one source of her undoing
The other thing abt compromise is that there is always a limit. Being willing to compromise does not mean just accepting *anything*. May did have her own 2 red lines: no FoM & no change in the security situation in NI. They were just the wrong 2 red lines.
In particular, May's no change in NI's security situation is a terrible thing to make a higher priority than the UK setting its own laws & doing its own new intl deals. It gave the IRA a veto over Britain's future. No. No. No.
The way things shld (must) work is this. The UK decides what we do, & NI decides if it wants to be part of the UK. No hard feelings if it doesn't, & in the meantime we will not be held back from being true to ourselves as the UK.
