If I may, I'd like to say a few words about this thread.
There are two things I learned while growing up:
1. If the facts don't match your assumptions, change your assumptions.
2. The thing you least want to do/hear, is the thing you most need to do/hear.

As you may have noticed, I'm a middle-aged white guy. Because of the above two rules, I like to think that I've avoided some of the mental/moral traps which makes one a modern-day conservative.

People who I liked, as well as voices I felt I needed to listen to. Voices like Adrian (with an A-n), @docrocktex26, @Freeyourmindkid, @lessgallon, more.
And, at times, they irritated me! (Well, not Propane Jane. She's always awesome.) And I would internally, #NotAllWhitePeople

But... I had rule #2. And rule #2 told me that I was irritated for a reason which I didn't want to admit.
So I listened. And learned, as best I could, given my history and race and country. And here's the thing:

So I started... again, to the best of my ability, to see the world around, and not, through the lens of privilege.
And, Holy shit guys, even beyond the current shit show, this country is racist as fuck. How racist, you ask?

Let's put it this way: we subdivided white people so we could be racist towards *them* too. Irish people(!). Italians. Poles. Slavs. All of them "white", all of them ghettoized because they just weren't white enough. Even white peoples "anti racism" entertainment is still...
Racist as fuck (looking at you "12 Angry Men", the "Green Book" of its day.)
So, if you're white and you get irritated by BAA, Adrian, Sage, Jane, more... good! You need to listen. You need to shut up. And you need, more than anything, to not say "well, not ALL white people..."
