Really excellent exposition by Sam Lowe about the problems arising from trying to abandon the Backstop in the WA.

But will @NickyMorgan01 and @GregHands read, digest and give it the weight it deserves or keep ploughing the unicorn farm?
My periodic reminder of just one road on the border.

Of the Tory leadership contenders Rory Stewart comes over as having by far the greatest intellectual heft and gravitas.

Statesmanlike qualities. I do not agree with him about rejecting a referendum (or getting on with Brexit), but his communication skills made me check Wiki
Here is his Wiki Page that makes very interesting reading.

His comms skills are far greater than I have seen from other candidates. Heavier weight intellectually. More likeable and trustworthy. Warmer. More human.

I would be watching this space.

3/. Worth remembering that, according to Lord Ashcroft’s Exit poll, of those who voted Tory 28% wanted to remain and only 17% would settle for No Deal. The rest wanted May’s Deal or some other deal.

I think he can speak to them.

Campbell suspended yet this 2016

Anger as controversial Jeremy Corbyn aide Andrew Fisher wins top Labour policy role.

He publicly supported Class War candidate over Labour Party candidate Emily Benn yet kept his job.

This is who Fisher supported.

“I’m not expecting a massive vote for Class War candidates but this gives us a chance to talk about freedom & equality. That’s anarchism for me. By bringing down the powerful and the rich, we can have some of that, share it out and thrive together”
Yet no suspension for Fisher. Nope. He remained in his powerful IN PARTY HQ place as Head of Policy. Far worse than @campbellclaret saying he would vote for a Remain party.

Sir Graham Brady plans to table an amendment the Withdrawal Agmt (WA) bill to make it law that Alternative Arrangements (AA) to the #backstop must be in place by end of transition period.
So, he says, the backstop wd still be in WA text but it wd be clear it'll never be used.

Brady says the proposal would simply be bringing forward the #AlternativeArrangements from the Political Declaration up front in the UK legislation implementing the WA.

The rationale is that by making backstop unusable, it will create a majority for the WA in the Commons.

Brady says EU & UK govt have to recognise that his AA amendment is only means of passing WA.

He admits he is yet to persuade the PM but claims that "Downing Street has people actively engaged in looking for alternative arrangements" to the #backstop.

All that is worth looking at is what she says she will not do;
what she says she will do;
+ what she says might do.

TL;DR: There is no Plan B.

Revoke Art. 50 (that’s just rude);
Extend Art.50 (so No Deal remains live);
Call a 2nd referendum (she doubts it’ll win)*

* Though she doesn't completely rule out the possibility of Parliament bringing this forward.

What she might do post-Brexit:
Take lessons from her mistakes in these negotiations when it comes to negotiating the future relationship.
She’ll be more inclusive: ‘engaging’ with elected reps from NI (and [randomly] English regions), & businesses & other normal people.
