If you're a quizzer, you may know this. If not, read ahead to know the surprising connect heavy metal has with the #FrenchOpen 🤘

Apart from @CaroWozniacki, you'd be hard-pressed to think of many famous Danish tennis players. But back in the 1940s and 50s, there was a guy named
Torben, who was very active on the tennis circuit, was the son of an Olympic tennis player. He didn't go "pro" until 1969, signing with WCT-World Championship Tennis, having earlier played as an amateur. He was 40 when he signed up - after most players have already retired.
He made more than 100 appearances at the @DavisCup for #Denmark. Over his career, he made the fourth round at #RolandGarros, @Wimbledon, and @usopen. He even made the semis at the USO in 1959, losing to the blockbuster combo of Emerson/Laver. He was very talented - no doubt.
But his talents weren't just at tennis. He made music, wrote articles, was an editor, made films, created art.

Torben has a special record at the #FrenchOpen: He is the oldest player to have ever won a match here. He was 44 when he beat the USA's Steve Siegel in straight sets.
Torben was particularly good at jazz, and was even in a band (he is 90 now, STILL is in one). But you might ask - what's the metal connect?
Torben's son wanted to go pro too, and moved to Cali in '80 to do it.

It didn't happen. So he put an ad in the paper for a bandmate.
Torben's son, Lars, asked for "heavy metal enthusiasts" to respond to his ad in a magazine called Recycler.
A Californian singer named James Hetfield responded.
And that's the story of how Lars Ulrich, once ranked in the top 10 tennis players in his age group, founded @Metallica.
