Here's where I hope the Tory leadership contest will go (best case):
- Heat and light of the BBC, Sky and ITV (and C4?) debates exposes most contenders for the empty vessels they are when it comes to Brexit.
- Boris Johnson will come under sustained attack from all sides.

- We will be left with one hard Brexiter (inevitably there will have to be one to appease the Tory membership) who isn't BJ, and one moderate candidate.
- The moderate candidate pips the hard liner in the final ballot of members.
- We take the first step back towards sanity.

Likely? Probably not. But it's not just Brexit that will sink candidates. For instance Esther Mcvey's stance on same sex relationships and education is more hardline even than most Tory members, let alone the wider population!
In a crowded field, any excuse is enough to jettison a candidate. And that's why Boris Johnson's legal challenge, coupled with his extremely long history of lies and deceit, and the barrage he will sustain during the debates, should be enough to sink him.
