Gang. We've got a serious problem that is not being reported. Bear in mind, this thread mostly is re:the one state I have info for in this matter. & that is #Montana. It is HIGHLY likely that most other states have this problem #EOC#HAZMAT#DisasterPreparedness
Here we go. 1/24
Direct quote from the LEPC Yellowstone County May 10, 2018 minutes: "Regional
Haz-Mat Response Team in Billings used to rely on State and Federal funding but
this source has dried up. Keeping team together with local funding that may only
last two more years. ..." 2/24
"...May need to limit response area due to funding limitations.
Need legislation for increased funding."
More hospital for me, today.
The rest of you, remember to breathe and keep the toxic at bay.
And take in some beauty.
The tulips and daffodils are in bloom!
Thanks so much to all the lovely, kind people wishing me well. Your support is so vital.
It was a harrowing day. #Cancer is a slog, but I am managing (except for some trolls who have sad lives).
I remain grateful for all of you, for great docs, for my fab fam.
Thank you. 💜🌿
Filing columns from hospital beds is exhausting.
Once, when I was at @PhillyDailyNews, before email was a thing, I wrote my copy long-hand from the ICU. That story, about the ICU, was later nom'd for Pulitzer, but all I remember was thinking those might be my last written words.
Let's talk about the #NRA, fear tactics, and the manipulation of the American people.
Some folks in #WeResist were discussing fear tactics, "well-regulated militias", and the NRA in general. We're gonna dive into these topics in this thread. #Resist 1/
First up, the #NRA, everytime a mass shooting happens, the NRA come out strong in defense of guns. We expect them to, after all, it's what they do. They call the gunman "crazy", they say that "crazy" people shouldn't have access to guns, etc. 2/
You don't necessarily have to be "crazy" to do a mass shooting. True enough that most of the people that have committed mass shootings are "crazy" but it's not something that is synonymous with being crazy. You just have to be evil enough to do it. 3/
I agree with what Diane said here. While I understand that #WI1 has national implications because whoever wins will challenge the Speaker of the House, this primary has become completely one-sided because of national discourse, which is steeped in sexism.
Some things in the first year were fun: meeting like-minded people, the #scifi characters, learning how to take effective action. Celebrating #victories like beating the #ACA repeal bills.
A lot of it wasn't fun - the threats of nuclear war, the daily stress of bad news. 2
Follow parties were fun, and a good way to promote a message and raise awareness, connect with other resistors and grow our followings. They had themes and served a purpose and there was about about one a month. 3 #PartyWithAPurpose#trending#amplify#effective
