Sitting here, writing up some thoughts about what's on the ballot in Texas this year, and feeling like maybe I shouldn't bother. The demotivational aspects of the media are getting to me, and it really pisses me off. #GOTV
I mean, *I* care. I got involved in 1992 as a Presidential Year voter. By 1996, I became an Early Vote devotee. In 2006, that expanded to every damned election, every time. I was SO MAD that Rick Perry won the Governor's seat with 39%. #GOTV
I stayed mad. Nearly every election cycle, I saw success locally (City/County/TX House & Sen), but watched the Democrats get their clocks cleaned in TX. I couldn't figure out what was happening. It's turnout. We love to vote every 4 years. Midterms? Nah. #GOTV
I have not done a state room thread recently and we are less than two months out from mid terms so I am going to do one because our #FlipItBlue candidates need all hands on deck.
State rooms are chat rooms where the resistance work together to help amplify candidates and issues. Some rooms are single state rooms and some are multi state rooms. The main goal in all of them is to showcase candidates and #GOTV
I’ll list state & the account to contact for state. Some states have multiple rooms. Those will be listed twice. Some have multiple contacts listed together. If interested send dm. If not able to because of no mutual follow my DM’s are open send me one & I will pass message on.
54% of people of color think addressing global warming should be a top priority for the government, compared to 22 percent of whites — a gap that has widened by 10% over the last decade as fewer whites consider it a priority. )Via @FiveThirtyEight). 2/ fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-r…
And it’s personal: 67% of Latinos, compared to 50% of whites, said their lives would be personally impacted if nothing was done to reduce global warming. Via (Via @nytimes) 3/ nytimes.com/2015/02/10/us/…
At @DemsWork4USA we are working hard & smart to organize, involve & channel grassroots activists to help #WinBlue, including assessing, vetting & early support of candidates, in a multi-layered strategy.

IF any of these things have changed since you last voted:
1) Address change (moved to another county), THEN re-register to vote. 2) Name change or address change (within the same county as current registration), THEN update your information here: txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/sos/SOS…
Studies show people are more likely to vote if they make a pledge to vote. So @inspiredjen and @AoCChecklist invite you to MAKE A PLEDGE TO VOTE!
"In a representative democracy, your vote is your voice. This November, Americans will use their vote to speak up not just .... 2/
...candidates and policies, but for their values and vision for our country.
In the current climate, it's not enough to fill out your ballot. Make a pledge to be prepared and informed when you vote this November....
SHORT THREAD. I know the idea of walking around and knocking on doors can be intimidating for some of you. Hell, I was literally shaking at my first house. That said, with practice, I have become pretty damn good at it. It has also shown me that there is nothing more effective.
Phonebanking helps, as does things like postcards to voters, but talking face to face is our greatest tool to help our candidates elected. I'm out doing it every weekend for @MikieSherrill. Do I get support from everyone who answers the door? Of course not, but, I do educate...
so many who say "I don't vote" or "are not into politics". I tell them how the GOP policies will effect them and the people they love. I keep saying this, but the ignorance and apathy out there is staggering.
Found that in #TheResistance
We ALL Resist different
At times disagree
Before 2016, I wasn't active on Twitter.
Like many of us, alarmed by what I was witnessing little by little I got more involved.
Learned about politics, Congress, Senate, Laws.
If you asked me 4 yrs ago I wouldn't be able to tell ya who represents each state.
I know by heart now.
Once tRump took over on Jan 20, 2017 I got more involved & Summer of last year I met many amazing Resistance brothers & sisters who are family to me til this day.
I created support rooms & joined candidate rooms to help amplify their campaign.
I run across amazing people daily.
1. We don't actually know if votes were altered or registrations affected by Russians in 2016. There has been no adequate investigation - partially because we don't have a comprehensive way to do so and partially because our gov is probably afraid to look in that dark corner.
2. We do know we were attacked in a sophisticated and multi-pronged military-level campaign. We know people were manipulated through social media and targeted ads, we know individuals and political campaigns were targeted. We also know they're doing it again.
3. The GRU has already inserted itself in Florida election systems - one of it's targets from 2016. Without adequate protection, they are positioned to attack the systems. The government must act...but, what can we do as voters in the face of all this?
5 States had elections on Tuesday night, with the headline event - the special election in #OH12 - coming in too close to call. As of midnight it looks like Danny O'Connor is around 1,750 votes short. What does this mean for the blue wave? [THREAd]
1) Every Vote Counts. As of midnight, the race is too close to call in OH-12. Democrat Danny O'Connor is short around 1700 votes. While there will need to be an official recount and absentee and provisional ballots that will keep this race in suspense, it's still a wake-up call.
2) 1700 votes. Out of 202,000 votes cast. Did you stay home because it was raining? Did you assume the #bluewave was a sure thing? Perhaps you thought your vote doesn't matter? As of 2016, OH-12 had a population of 760,000. Hoping for a blue wave? Listen up: YOUR VOTE COUNTS.
.@BetoORourke raised over $23 million this season without accepting donations from corporations of lobbyists.
Cruz has raised $30K more than his opponent.
Texas Senatorial race is currently the most expensive in the country.
A democrat hasn’t won Texas statewide race in 24 years.
Let's start with what we know.
21 states were "breached", but what does that mean?
That means that 21 states had information stolen.
This could be information on IP addresses, server names, server types, documents, data about users on the network or confidential information.
Remember, these are usually not single instances, and once they've gained access to the system, the hacker has the opportunity to mosey around
They have the time to find where data are stored, files that may contain passwords, there's no green sign that says "You've been hacked"
The unemployment rate goes down
Corporate profits go up
Wages go down
Many Americans work more than one job
Yet they are still barely scraping by
A well educated & healthy populace is necessary for the success of America
Social programs lift children out of poverty
Instead of adding a zero to the bank account of the ultra wealthy
We could be investing in infrastructure
We could be investing in our future workforce

"We got it wrong in 2016
We can get it right in 2018
There’s a far side to this American disgrace, a way to contain the damage
it’s utterly straightforward, entirely effective
It’s called VOTING
From now til Nov 6, we must stay fanatically focused on that" nytimes.com/2018/07/20/opi…

"The moral of Helsinki freak show, NATO tragicomedy, kids in cages at border, isn’t just that tRump lacks any discernible conscience, real regard for this country, mature appreciation of history & our exalted part in it.
This next election matters, immeasurably."
I am so disappointed in our country, but I know I am partly to blame. I was angry and disillusioned about the level of corruption in our government, at all levels, but I did not know how to change it. I became complacent and took too many things for granted.
NOW WE ARE AWAKE
I will never be complacent again. This corruption is completely intolerable. I am ANGRY + I will fight until we permanently change this country for the better.
I know you feel the same way. Our strength is in our numbers. We must stay united, strategic, and relentless. #SKorea
Step 1: It is URGENT that we get Dems to the polls in record-breaking, shocking numbers.
That is what it is going to take to overcome all the GOP cheating, hacking, propaganda, and election fraud. Go door-to-door. Talk to your neighbors. This is absolutely critical.
