I hope you'll pardon my Aramaic, but it is unbelievably f*cked up that the last 7 tweets the President of the United States has sent promote a sectarian day of prayer that's been organized on his behalf.
This. Is. Not. Normal.
This one is particularly egregious. How is this not the minister of a tax-exempt church engaging in partisan politics? To "protect him from his enemies?"
Update: What better place to bask in the Sunday morning prayers of your admirers than on the golf course?

65 years ago: the founder of modern conservatism, William F. Buckley, published a book about how awesome Joe McCarthy was.
Today: the President beloved by conservatives is Donald Trump, whose lawyer and mentor in the 1980s was Roy Cohn, McCarthy’s right hand man.

And also, Buckley’s co-author, L. Brent Bozell, ghost authored Goldwater’s Conscience of a Conservative (1960), a key foundational text in the American Conservative tradition.

Highly recommend this podcast on Selma, AL, the civil rights movement, and the murder of white minister James Reeb. It testifies to how forcefully and violently some people have fought (and will fight) to protect white supremacy in America. npr.org/podcasts/51034…
One moment in Episode 2 stood out to me. When a group of white men in Selma were arrested for the murder of Reeb, the county's leading white men bailed the murderers out of jail and began raising funds for their defense. Note how they justified it...
“It is the duty of every white citizen to see that those white citizens have legal help. Selma is fighting almost alone, but Selma is not fighting for itself alone, it is fighting for everything that stands for decency and Western Civilization.”

I was Somebody.

I was a grassroots organizer and an aspiring writer.

This really shows the absurdity of DOJ policy NOT to indict a sitting president. The greater the evidence of criminality, the greater incentive a criminal POTUS has to stay in office. Trump may seek a 2d term as a result. Why EVER leave if being POTUS prevents legal exposure?!

A) Ok I have some thoughts on @michelleisawolf's act and the reaction to it from members of the press and other DC insiders. For the record, I was in the room last night. @michelleisawolf's set was great. She was hilarious and confident.
B) First, @michelleisawolf took no prisoners last night. She roasted Trump, Pence, White House staffers, the media, media personalities. Everyone is focused on Sanders but that was only 1 1/2 minutes of Michelle's act. She went after everyone...as it should be.
C) @michelleisawolf was hired to do a roast. That was her job. She wasn't hired to offer media analysis or be fair and balanced. She was hired to poke fun at powerful people. Not once did she punch down. She focused on the people/institutions that are powerful beyond measure
