Big 4 antitrust:

1) Goog - Most vulnerable. Concrete examples of anticompetitive behavior. Available behavioral remedies.

2) Amazon - easiest to break up b/c of modular org. But why and to what end?

3) Apple - App store

4) FB - closed system. who/what are they harming?
With FB/GOOG I can see easy privacy remedies, I mean FB is about to settle a massive fine with FTC. But antitrust/break up just seems like "they are too big" hand waving. Other than Google, the only other real monopolistic behavior I can see is Apple app store. Where am I wrong?
I think the funniest outcome would be the DOJ suing FB to stop copying Snapchat. "It is so ordered that for 10 years you must actually internally develop your products".

My impression has always been that while finance people are most in awe of Google because of its engineering prowess, tech people are most in awe of Apple because of its product prowess. Maintaining that culture of design and product excellence is arguably their greatest moat.
That New Yorker profile sure made it sound like Jony Ive carried the torch for the culture of Apple after Jobs died

I don't think rate cuts t have direct impact on business investment, as I've argued for years cost of capital is not the determinant, demand is. But where rate cuts could help, is weakening USD, helping improve ROW conditions, which could help demand, which could help investment.
That's a lot of second and third order effects though. So if your model for how rate cuts will help stave off a recession is through business investment, I think the channel is via ROW.
The Fed backing off their absurd stance last summer and fall obviously had huge benefits to housing, and on the margin consumer spending more broadly. And since the US consumer is the GOAT, the biggest benefit has probably already been had.
