Dear unenthusiastic Democrat, who is too far independent to be a cheer leader for a political party.

I almost always end up voting for Democrats and going all in for Democratic candidates, because they are the party that has the candidates that have the best chance to actually move this country Left.

A more liberal candidate, who ends up not winning and has no platform to institute changes, is utterly useless.

The country has moved right. Period. The Left can cry and whine and groan about it, but there is no value on insisting that their principles shouldn't adapt to reality when our country's center has shifted to the right.

Ten years ago, we thought abortion rights and birth control were at least legally established, even if not equally accessible.

We though the Voting Rights Act at least gave the disenfranchised the legal basis to sue, we thought that the EPA was inadequate to address Climate Change, but at least they prevented the worst excess.

None of that is established anymore, all of those are battles we have to fight all over again, BECAUSE THE LEFT CAN'T FOCUS ON WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS.

And then, when the Left doesn't show up for elections because their precious ideals aren't perfectly represented, they hand any chance at change to the Republicans.

Healthcare for a lot of people is not as good as healthcare for all, but it's one hell of a lot better than healthcare for the rich only.

The Paris Climate Change Accord was not as good as 100% immediate cessation of using any fossil fuels, but it was one hell of a lot better than putting an Exxon CEO in charge of our foreign policy.

Having a president who thinks some wars might be necessary if no other diplomatic solutions work may not be as good as someone who says no wars, ever, but it would have been one hell of a lot better than a president who thinks wars are good for his business.

But that just wasn't good enough. Not in 2010 which affected the census, and not in 2016, which gave us Trump.

All of this to say I am losing patience with people casually and regularly dumping on the Dems. They are quite literally the only party who can get rid of Trump for us.

95% of Republicans support Trump! 95% are good with an immoral incompetent President because guns, abortion, hatred of immigrants etc. THEY WILL SHOW UP! EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM!

Have a particular issue you want them to handle differently?
By all means, bring it up and discuss it. By all means contact your local Dem Party and try to get your voice heard. By all means sign a petition, write, call, debate it, etc.

But when you casually claim Pelosi is a coward or a shill, when you pretend the Dems as a party can't walk and talk at the same time, that the Dems should do XYZ but are too stupid/incapable/wimpy/pick your insult to do so,

..when you do any of that and simply drop it into the conversation, then you are demonstrating exactly why the Dems can't get anything done.

And I, for one, am more concerned with actually being effective in slowing down the damage TrumpCo is doing and increasing the chance of a Trump and Republican take down than I am with insulting the Dems and making them out to be the real problem here.

THEY ARE NOT THE REAL PROBLEM HERE.
Your cynicism and your world weary ennui don't make you look like part of the solution, they make you part of the problem.

I can't stop people's insistence on unnecessarily bashing the Dems, but I can set my own boundaries around it. And I am hitting a wall.

So I will be blocking people and unfollowing as necessary.
