With the internet cut in Sudan and the scramble to try and find out what's happening in Khartoum, we may have missed something very serious in Darfur.

Right now, it's hard to confirm what happened the scale. A few days ago, images and videos began circling of burning villages.
Today, there are reports of a very high death toll but I don't know how to confirm it at the moment.
The UN said in May that it's camps in Darfur were looted. This week, Antonio Guterres acknowledged this an internal letter to Sudan staff - not sure if this has happened again.
This documented shared by @ForeignPolicy shows military council, around same time of May's looting, demanded UN peacekeeper camps are handed over - specifically to the RSF.

@ForeignPolicy The RSF were formed mostly from the Janjaweed militias accused of war crimes/genocide in Darfur. It's leader Hemeti was a Janjaweed leader.

It would be kind of like UN peacekeepers handing their bases over to the people they were set up to counter.
@ForeignPolicy Rebels in Darfur said they repelled an RSF offensive last week, suggesting there has been activity before the rumoured violence of the last few days. dabangasudan.org/en/all-news/ar…
@ForeignPolicy @Radiodabanga also reporting that at least 6 killed on Sunday and Monday in central Darfur (far less than the number being shared on social media but still a lot)
@ForeignPolicy @Radiodabanga Even going back to last week's dispersals of sit-ins. Three were killed in Darfur.

I think if you look at the deaths at sit-ins, aside from the massive attack in Khartoum on Monday, the number of deaths in Darfur's sit-ins is disproportionate dabangasudan.org/en/all-news/ar…
@ForeignPolicy @Radiodabanga So the UN quoted a figure of 9 reportedly killed at Dilig market (the same location mentioned by others) but calls it tribal fighting. reliefweb.int/sites/reliefwe…
@ForeignPolicy @Radiodabanga This video has been going around with caption saying it's from recent attacks in Darfur. It definitely isn't from Sunday & Monday and I think might be much older. Here it was posted on June 6, comparing attack on Khartoum's sit-in to violence in Darfur
@ForeignPolicy @Radiodabanga 11 were killed on Monday in Darfur according to @Sd_Doctors

Says "Janjaweed" fighters opened fire on civilians the Deleig market yesterday. 20 injured.
