@AngieCraigMN has substantial wealth from a business career, but many members of Congress don’t. We should raise their pay but also enact restrictions on conflicts of interest from investments and lobbying after leaving office.

Members of Congress don’t profit from office through their salaries which are relatively modest. They profit from financial conflicts of interest such as stock portfolios affected by their official duties and from permissive rules on lobbying after they leave office.
Not giving pay raises to Congress is a great way to make sure even more rich people who don’t need the salary go to Congress. What do they do there? They pass bills that lower top bracket income taxes, bills that help their stocks and other things that make them even richer
