My adolescent patient was in neurosurgery (3rd floor) for brain tumor. It was 1pm and I pretty much forced her parents to eat lunch in 1st floor cafeteria. I fumbled and spilled soup on the hapless woman in front of me in line!

We ate and returned to 3rd floor waiting area. Surgeon came out with good report, but told us her heart had stopped in surgery; they successfully restarted it; prognosis was good.

She knew they were people she had known and also ancestors. She had an “instant, panoramic life review where I FELT all the feelings I had caused in others – good and bad.” It was NOT JUDGMENT.

She said there is NO judgment, no anger, no punishment. The review was ONLY for her to learn. She said she was surrounded by love and understanding. That all around her only loved her and understood everything. Complete understanding.

She asked if there was a true religion and was met with loving amusement – that there is NO correct religion; only love. That all religions that teach love have truth. She was told there is no hell. She was shown people who were in

spheres of their own making. In those spheres, the thought they were in hell, but they only thought that. All they had to do was SEE that there is no hell and simply reach out to the love that was all around them all the time.

She asked about homosexuality and abortion and was told that is not an issue; that Allah/God/Buddha/Great Spirit understood about abortion and homosexuals are made as they are. People judge this; not Allah/God.

She said she was clearly told that Allah/God/etc DOES NOT judge people at all. Ever. That this is an invention of people. She said our most important job is love – love each other, love animals, love the planet, love OURSELVES.

I am a VERY hard science sort of person. Working in hospital and hospice, I had heard stories like this and didn't know what to think. This one was different… this one happened to ME. She saw me spill that soup.

Did her account really happen? I can’t know. But I DO know that she saw me spill soup and there wasn’t time or opportunity for someone to tell her about that and implore her to tease me about it. And why would someone do that?

I believe this really happened. I had heard the same story so many times… but this one had her seeing something two floors below where she was in surgery.

There is NO one true religion. All that matters is love.
