David, I'm sorry you have been treated ill by liberals - but I know that you are aware of the viciousness on both sides. And if you were to become Democrat, you would be saying the exact opposite. You know this.
We are a divided nation but we ALL want the same thing.
We all want a strong country, a safe planet, peace and trade worldwide. I believe you want a healthy ecosystem and you want to protect our world for future generations. I believe you want a strong economy, jobs and growth, and food and healthcare for all.
I believe you want all the same things Democrats want. We just see the path differently.
Don't vilify an entire group because of the behavior of some. You KNOW conservatives can be vicious - as you would experience if you switched sides. There is bad behavior on BOTH sides.
And you know that it is conservatives who are committing the acts of violence at events. And Trump encourages it. I know you know this. And you know Trump lies like an 11 year old whose mom found cigarettes in his pocket.
I know you know these things, but you have found a way to set them aside because you believe the conservative approach is best for the country.
Why am I saying these things? Am I being rude to you? Am I treating you terribly? You and I are the SAME, David. We are patriotic Americans. Making blanket statements and vilifying each other doesn't do any of us any good.
Look around you, David. Trump has coarsened our discourse. He loves to see strife, particularly if he can get people to fight over him. He is like the worst version of a middle school mean girl, name calling, taunting, and picking on other kids
and taking delight if boys blacken each other’s eyes over her. He hasn't lowered the bar of American discourse and decency; he has obliterated it.
It's up to US to put it back up there. It's up to US to refuse to make absurd claims that...
...half of America is now mad and my group are the only sane ones. It's beneath you to make such a claim.
Let's focus on building bridges instead of dividing ourselves from each other. Let's refuse to engage in the yelling and name calling. Let's demand the dignified behavior engendered by self respect; the best way I can elevate myself is to elevate another.
I SEE you, David. I SEE your good and patriotic heart. YOU are not the enemy; nor am I YOUR enemy. The enemy is politicians who look only for personal gain and are awash in schadenfreude when they see suffering in an opponent. I refuse to call you my opponent.
