I was exploring a list of patents, trying to find something interesting to share, and ended up finding patent number 3216423, which is an apparatus for facilitating the birth of a child by centrifugal force...
It was filled in 1965 - and it makes zero sense.
There's also patent number 4344424: an anti-eating face mask.
And please don't forget this one: a hat with an air intake, which filters and then expels the air, designed for smokers. It includes an integral fan and a "filtration, purification and deionization system for removal of combustion products, such as smoke odors".
I have so many questions now.

Faces of Auschwitz is a project between thousands of others that are equally important. People like my friend @McKayMSmith, Auschwitz survivor @EvaMozesKor, and institutions like @HolocaustMuseum, @AuschwitzMuseum, @HolocaustUK are also doing v. important work.
As for @FacesAuschwitz: the trailer will be out within the next few days - I think. We are not publishing new photos for now because we are fully dedicated to the documentary, and currently trying to organize a second trip to Poland.

Alberto Santos-Dumont was a Brazilian inventor and aviation pioneer. In his early career, he designed, built, and flew hot air balloons and early dirigibles, culminating in his winning the Deutsch de la Meurthe prize on 19 October 1901 for a flight that rounded the Eiffel Tower.
Santos-Dumont is a national hero in Brazil, where it is popularly held that he preceded the Wright brothers in demonstrating a practical airplane.
On 23 October 1906 his 14-bis made the first powered heavier-than-air flight in Europe to be certified by the Aéro-Club de France and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale.

Do you ever find yourself scrolling through the Netflix or Amazon Video catalogues for so long, you might as well have just watched something instead?
Especially the infinite schlock on Amazon Video. Stuff made for 50p in somebody's basement on a shaky GoPro, or Z-list films from the 70s, or random foreign stuff that nobody ever watched even when it first came out. Like trying to find gold in a mud heap.
Ended up treating myself to a rental of the digitally remastered Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Looks glorious.

deku's a half demon, which is already a problem in itself because he neither belongs with demons or humans, meaning neither side wants to accept it. what makes it WORSE, however, is that inko has apparently passed down her holy powers to him - making him the biggest abomination
it also winds up making him useless, because if he were to use either of his powers in excessive amounts, it would kill him. the only reason he has not been driven out of the village is due to the fact that his mother is a priestess
the adults make a point not to speak to him, but that doesn't prevent them from telling their children about the "monster". warning them against him, resulting, of course, in deku's isolation.

Jimin wouldn’t allow himself to be trapped on his shift for any longer than necessary.

“Go, go,” Taehyung hurried, taking Jimin’s apron to let him slip out from behind the counter more quickly. Jimin decided he could get the grounds out from under his nails at home.
This morning had been absolute hell. Two girls ordered seven drinks, Jimin made them all only for them to say they were supposed to be with almond milk.

‘Oh I’m so sorry,’ was he all he had legally been allowed to say at the time, while his mind had far more colorful ideas.
With Jimin officially clocked out, he slumped on the customer side of the now empty service counter, looking to his friend with tired eyes.

“You wanna grab dinner later?”
“I can’t, remem—?
“Ah, right...”

Jimin’s disappointment vanished as Taehyung suddenly smiled to himself.
