Just because you’re Canadian doesn’t mean you can’t do something. We’re the US’ largest trading partner. We share an undefended border. We are all in a position to ask our government to do something. At the end of this thread, I have included text of a letter I sent today.

First, you can donate to organizations in the US helping at the Border. Last week I tweeted about @togetherrising and I also strongly support @RAICESTEXAS. Both get a monthly donation, but even a one time donation of $5 helps. $5 is one Starbucks’ frappe thingy.

The Safe Third Countries Act between the US and Canada is a signal that we believe the US will treat refugees the same as we do. That might have been true at the time it was signed, but do you believe it’s true today? I don’t.

It is imperative that we make it known that we are not a silent majority and that no human being - let alone a child - should be left in squalid conditions with no medical care for the crime of trying to find safety in a chaotic world.
