Re: this response by @deanbaquet about the Times' inadequate coverage (which I lay out in the tweet below): in light of the recognition that the response was insufficient, I wonder why the story is not front and center on the @nytimes home page. 1/

Also, it's hard not to wonder about their self-admitted excessive "deference" to Donald Trump and why they chose such a different response in their treatment of Hillary Clinton's email protocols (or Comey's letter) about said emails. /2
This also seems like a bad reason to slow-walk the story: "The Times did not find independent sources — people beyond the two friends Ms. Carroll cited in her book — who could verify her account at the time of the article’s publication, or any other additional corroboration." /3
I hope they keep digging for additional sources--beyond the two friends who corroborated Carroll's account--but what she provided certainly seems enough to form a credible and newsworthy accusation, especially because other accussees discuss the same style of assault. /4
Not to mention that Trump himself bragged about attacking women in this manner in the Access Hollywood tape. /5

You can still make up for the inadequate coverage: "The fact that a well-known person was making a very public allegation against a sitting president 'should’ve compelled us to play it bigger.'" So why not "play it bigger" now? Follow up with Trump. Continue to investigate. /6
One correction: the Times did not admit they showed "deference," as I say above. They denied that they did so. /7
