Looking over Trump's career, it's amazing how much obvious bs that he not only got away with but was celebrated for. I love how the fictional "Barron" is identified as a "VP of the Trump Organization."
For how many years (decades?) did he successfully maintain the illusion that he was soon to embark on "the world's tallest building"?

As early as 1975, he was all set to build "the largest and most unique facility of its kind in the world."

Here's his 1983 plan for an "extraordinarily tall" building.

And 1984's plan for a "psychologically great" tall building. Gosh, the guy just begs for Freudian analysis, doesn't he?

Sometimes wanting the "tallest building" is just wanting a building. But sometimes it is not.

This credulous profile that appeared in 1984 in @washingtonpost has to be read to be believed. His desire to build the tallest building is mentioned alongside his "fantasy" of "becoming the US negotiator on nuclear arms limitations talks with the Soviets"

Interesting graphic design here.

Not sure why they describe Trump as "Capitalism's Grand Vizier" or why they continue to treat his plan for the world's tallest building as new by late 1985.

Mythmaking about Trump did not begin with The Apprentice, which was only the latest phase of a longterm narrative. The caption to the photo accompanying this book calls him "Atlantic City's largest casino operator & a canny Wall St. investor."
