Both my mate & I had the same reaction reading this: Mainly just confusion.
It's like he just pressed the *insert generic racist comment* button just to take it over the line & make sure there was no doubt.
We were less "how could you say that!?😡" and more "But... why, dude?😕"

I wasn't offended by the comment.
I was offended by the fact that this was the communications director of the organisation set up by the chairman of the Brexit Party, which we've all just accepted as the "pure" and "Non-racist" face of Brexit.

Perceiving people in a ethnic groups as visually similar doesn't make you racist.
It's due to a lack of exposure. If you only see one race growing up, your brain learns to differentiate between their faces better.
But actually saying they look alike shows you're not self-aware.
