There should be a debate format where the entire 2 hours is focused on a single issue (e.g. healthcare).

Honestly this would educate the electorate and go beyond platitudes more than any other media coverage could.
Also the candidates should be allowed a laptop, with a line to their staff doing research in real time.

I want the best of their thinking!
There would be so much more real back-and-forth on policy if the debate was structured this way. Can’t retreat to pre-rehearsed talking points in a 2h debate on one topic
Also, the questions should be asked by policy experts. Not TV personalities

I finally got around to diving into TikTok to understand what makes it, uh, tick :)

✍️ A few thoughts on how the network design could limit their growth:
The main feed in most social apps shows posts from people you follow.

TikTok instead focuses on “For You” which maybe is a bit personalized, but mostly feels like a global “trending posts” feed.
Because of this, the main goal is to get into that feed. So unlike instagram and snapchat, users mostly create content that is legible to any TikTok user (instead of making content mostly meant for friends).

I put a pretty objective take in the answer on our site, but there is a subtler issue I think is hard to imagine if you've never tried to get something new off the ground:

In the early days, you're so worried about lack of usage, it's almost impossible to imagine abusive usage
"What if people use this for ill?" is one of those first-class problems you get the right to worry about when you start to become successful. But there's no specific day when you get a notification saying "OK now you have to worry about this."

I gotta say, working on @QueryNews, and reading the news 100x more deeply, is radicalizing me.
I'm not being radicalized in the sense that I'm for more extreme policies.

I'm being radicalized in the sense that I'm extremely, deeply motivated to change the policies we have to something non-horrible.
I can hear my old self saying "but the news is made to spark outrage for pageviews! don't fall for it!"

But I'm doing more work than ever to learn the actual details of what is going on, rather than skimming the surface as before, and it's making me incredibly angry.

Short answer: But, it is all within uncertainties...

I think the way carbon budgets are often expressed, "66% chance below X°C" hides the uncertainty, much better to show the range of outcomes (as is done for the ECS, etc)

Second: The actual experts do not agree with you, and your fear-mongering is likely causing more harm than good.

The Democrat Party is so shitty that in a well reasoned debate it’s pundits can’t win on even a single issue. If it didn’t have at it’s disposal the vast propaganda machine that we call “the media” it’s fire would have been extinguished decades ago.
Which is why Facebook and Twitter are committed to censorship. These social madia giants are mission focused on keeping America stupid.
