having the kind of morning where I found myself idly wondering which of my kitchen utensils would win in a primary

(definitely the non-stick pan, talk about a real teflon candidate)
the soup dish is currently number one in the bowls, but who's this guy promising to make everything grate again
even for me this is bad
the kettle is gaining steam but the dishwasher's numbers are underwater
the faucet just announced it's running
the sous vide's polling numbers are remarkably stable

the stove is seeing more of a range
the microwave's campaign says its internals are looking super hot
but the spice rack is a seasoned campaign veteran
(look, we all need hobbies, this is apparently mine)
the vacuum sealed containers aren't getting any airtime
the sieve's policy proposals just don't really hold water

Please join me, if you will, on a quick jaunt through the insanity of trying to track down the data behind a poorly sourced article in the news.
This article, published during the weekend, caught my eye: it claims that a 2017 study found that 70% of Americans think women should change their names when they marry, and half say it should be required
Here's the study they link to:

But the stat isn't from that 2017 study! Instead, it dates back to a paper presented in 2009. Here's USA Today from that year: usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/20…

If recent history is any guide, it's worth noting that failing to repeal the ACA hurt Trump temporarily with his base and then they more or less got over it.
We've been tracking whether people think Trump will live up to his campaign promises and which ones they think are most important. Last year, as Trump voters' belief that Obamacare would be repealed fell, so did the importance they placed on it.
So this is one of those things where cause and effect are sort of hard to unpick. Trump's core supporters really, really want to see a wall. But you can see how that might be at least partially because Trump has made the wall such a central talking point.

Back in 1993, I was in the throes of an MBA and found myself in a summer internship at a leading ad agency in Bangalore, hoping for release and redemption.

I fancied, with no real reason for such confidence, that I would be good at advertising.
The internship taught me many things.
- I roamed many corners of Bangalore on foot and by autorickshaw, into many electronics retailers, talking to them about which brands of audio systems (they weren’t called music players back then) they carried, and what they felt about them.
- I saw firsthand the emergence of the Shiv Sagar genre of fast food restaurants spring up, mostly from the outside, because the internship didn’t pay me well enough to do more than just look longingly at the Mysore bonda freshly stacked on the counters.

NJ is the forgotten birthplace of industrial #Teflon — where DuPont scaled PTFE manufacture during WWII from grams to pounds to the potential for tonnes. This precedent setting response is fitting, given this #envhist. A thread.

I corresponded with a woman who worked at DuPont’s Arlington Works (NJ) during WWII — she remembered the PTFE plant explosion in 1944 — and (w/ a local historian) helped me sketch the boundaries of the plant, & where the co. built the first PTFE/#Teflon pilot plant. @northjersey

It's honestly so fresh for a book about wolves. Silver, our heroines is a wolf who has never been offland--she's way more comfortable as a wolf than in "skins." The hero, Tiberius, is a shifter who will be killed if she doesn't help him.

Really interesting world-building.

Masa aku tingkatan 3. Tanpa aku sedar berat aku mencecah 150 KG 😭. Yelah, habit makan banyak. Dulu balik sekolah je beli makan dan janjan. Petangnya pulak pergi pasar malam. Exercise? Jangan tanya wehh. Dulu aku bukannya bersukan.
Aku bangga la jugak masa darjah 5 jadi pemegang rekod "Budak paling berat dalam sekolah." Time tu timbang sebab ada ujian subjek pendidikan jasmani. HAHAHA

Here are the recipes for the pancake wraps and Vegetable mix as promises. This is going to be long, but let's roll

Pancakes

3cups of Flour
2tbsp of sugar (u can add more)
1 large egg
1 cup of milk.
2 tbsp of butter
Water (if necessary)
Salt to balance taste.
Directions

In a bowl mix the dry ingredients together
Mix the milk and egg together
Put the butter in the mixed flour and mix properly with your hands.
Add the milk mixture and whisk preferably to avoid lumps.
If it too thick, add water gradually, so that the batter can be light but not watery
Add salt and sugar if required to give you the taste you want, but since it is a wrap, it shouldn't be too sweet

When we kicked off our campaign in Albany almost a year and a half ago, we were told we would never win the Democratic primary. When we did, the pundits and pollsters said that a candidate like me in a state like Georgia would never poll above 30%. We did.
And when they said this race would be a walk for Republicans, they shifted Georgia from “Safe Republican” to “Lean Republican” to “Toss Up” in the same breath.

Beyond the pundits, beyond the polls, and beyond party labels, we fought because we believe in Georgia.
