Lately we have been optimizing our life everywhere possible. I am now doing 16:8 intermittent fasting. I break fast with Huel at 12pm, and dinner every night is a Danish recipe box with local ingredients. This combo has revolutionized my eating and reduced overhead so much!
Obviously not for everyone, but for us it is tremendous. No shopping whatsoever, 10x more veggies in the diet, a highly standardized nutrition intake, and much less impulsive shopping/cooking/eating out.
Our recipe box is this Danish one. Amazing, healthy, mostly vegan meals 4 nights a week with mostly local produce. It is teaching us so much about cooking. aarstiderne.com/velkommen
And fasting itself is fascinating. I like it much better than keto or other things I have tried for regulating my eating behavior. It has helped me realize how often I eat impulsively for stress or pleasure. And the interoceptive side is fascinating.
On the weekend, we usually eat out at one of the many fab restaurants in Aarhus and/or cook more indulgent meals with meat in them. Also break fast with our classic brunch instead of huel on the weekend.
I love intermittent fasting because it gives me control and insight into my eating, seems to have the same 'cognitive' benefits as keto, and is so much less restrictive. When I have an off day (like at copenhell), I just go right back to it guilt free.
Obviously there is no silver bullet, but this feels like the first thing i've tried that easy to fit into my lifestyle. And Huel is a lifesaver for my wife with her allergies, especially when we travel! No more junkfood lunches!
