Even though I’m now 51, I still feel a glow of pride at how amazingly grown up I am when I drop off a hire car at an airport
The thing about driving in America that I found weird: the disequilibrium between the hulking musculature of the hire car & the strictness of the speed limits. It felt like riding a Triceratops in stilettos.
Even so, I was amazed how many guys sporting desperado stubble I’d see obediently crawling along a gun-barrel straight road in the middle of an empty prairie at 65 mph. It seemed slightly to lack the Wild West spirit...
Anyway, what a great trip it’s been. Digging dinosaurs in the Wild West - a dream come true! Thanks to everyone from @NHM_London who made it so memorable.
