Parental advice solicitation: Keep 2-year-old up until 9:15 to see fireworks or wake him up 90 minutes after his normal bedtime?
Strong consensus is to let him stay up -- but if he can't, not to wake him up. Appreciate the help!
Or, option three: He'll be asleep and idiot neighbors setting off garbage firecrackers will wake him up.

I am very skeptical of this, certainly in part due to my own predisposition on the subject. axios.com/russia-interfe…
But "25,000 cumulative retweets led to a 1-point jump for Trump a week later" is a remarkable bit of causation to imply. (The study authors don't seem to be implying it, FWIW.)
In part, too, this seems to be driven in part by a spike in retweets just as Trump's poll numbers were spiking ... after the GOP convention.

the year is 2010. My friend Giri is living with his grandparents and doing engineering in Bangalore while his parents work in Delhi.

his parents were both powerful execs at major MNCs and they were always sharply dressed and intimidatingly well spoken. (2/25)
Giri on the other hand, was one of 'the boys' and always hung out with us ne’er-do-wells.

Idk if he was compensating for his wealthy background but he'd hang with us in the shadiest dive bars, drink the cheapest alcohol, pick fights with other patrons etc. (3/25)

My uncle today lies in an ICU in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He has lived a long & good life. He will live some more of it, just not sure how much. But this is not a maudlin mourning story, seeking rote condolence or prayer or whatev. It's a story about Wayne & his sister Shirley. /2
And me, to some degree, but, y'know, duh. I knew Shirley as Mom, a pious, puritanical, sometimes judgmental woman whom I disappointed quite a bit & loved dearly, if sometimes haltingly. Alzheimer's turned her brain to gunk starting 20 years ago but this isn't even about that. /3

I would like you to show me how vote switching is impossible.
Show me on the Voting machines that have zero paper record. The following states use Direct Recording Electronic voting machines only (no paper output on what vote was recorded).
LA, DE, GA, SC, NJ.
W/O any feedback, how can you guarantee that the vote that was placed is the one recorded on the hard drive?
I say 'prove it'
Should be simple right?
Not so fast, the DRE machines w/o a paper trail have no way to perform a vote audit
Prove to me the vote was tallied correctly
Furthermore, many of the states wipe the hard drives of those machines too soon, those states don't even allow for an audit of what was on the machine's hard drive. How are audits supposed to occur if the data have been erased?

It has been exactly 3 years to the hour since I woke up to climate change.

It wasn't a speech, a report or a scientist that told me. It was the weather itself that showed me climate change. Here is my story:
On October 13th, 2015, my hometown, Pasadena, CA had just exited a massive heatwave. Temperatures reached 103F on the 10th, while lows were in the low 70s.

Despite the heatwave being over & the highs dropping to the 90s, the lows continued to warm, day after day.
By the 13th, even though the high was a "cool" 96F, the low was a whopping 25F above the per-industrial average at 73F. October was, to me, the first month of fall when temperatures cooled off and the rain returned. October 2015, however, finished as the hottest October ever.
