U.S. District Judge Richard Berman, who is presiding over Epstein's case, rejected a similar cushy bail package for gold trader Reza Zarrab, who executed the biggest money laundering scheme to Iran in U.S. history.

The NYT dubbed Zarrab's requested bail package a "gilded cage."
Judge Berman wrote at the time:

"[T]he defendant’s privately funded armed guard proposal is unreasonable because it helps to foster inequity and unequal treatment in favor of a very small cohort of criminal defendants who are extremely wealthy." courthousenews.com/cushy-bail-pac…
Epstein's attorneys know this and acknowledged they're pushing the same proposal Berman rejected.
