I have chronic migraines. They ebb and flow, but lately I have them more often than I don't, and it's debilitating.
There are things that could help - drugs and Botox and acupuncture - but they all cost money, as such things do. Or, as they do here.

We feel entitled, solely by dint of being American, to run roughshod over other nations and speak loudly in restaurants and demand the world learn English, but not to provide other Americans with something as basic as healthcare.

We fetishize the idea of "earning," though the most privileged among us have done nothing to "earn" what they enjoy. We feel insurance companies have "earned" the right to profit off human misery, but we don't believe the working poor have "earned" the right to a doctor.

We count profit above people in every way that counts and we believe, in as blind and childish a way as is possible, that those who have MUST HAVE done something to earn it.

And if you don't have? Well, sorry. We have one of the highest GDPs in the the world, but we can't afford to let you see a doctor. Sorry. Never mind the fact that, per capita, we already spend more on healthcare than any other nation on earth.
