Guy Benson is a well educated upper class White liberal so this chant is offensive to him because it to him smacks of racism. I am a brown first gen immigrant from India and I completely understand the sentiment behind the chant. Let me explain in this thread
First everyone in the crowd knows that Ilhan Omar is a US citizen and can't be deported to Somalia. They are using this chant to razz the main stream media and the liberals who think Ilhan Omar is some brave woman representing the best of America.
The MSM lionizes and glamorizes this backward & ethically challenged Rep because she is a Muslim immigrant & wears a Hijab, which White liberals have decided in their infinite wisdom is a good thing for Muslim women to wear and in fact required to be a observant Muslim woman.
Ilhan Omar talks about 9/11 like it is no big deal and the worst thing about it is that it made Muslims in America uncomfortable. She constantly lambasts America as a place where bigotry is commonplace and where she has come to show the deplorables the right way.
There is not an ounce of gratitude at her extreme good fortune in being able to immigrate to America and her rise to political power in a district where her fellow ethnic Somalis are a small minority.
Let me tell you that I came to America 25 years ago as a student from India armed with a degree from a well regarded engineering college and full financial aid for grad school. It would be easy for me to say that my cake was 90% baked and I owe India more than America.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth. America made me who I am today, academically, professionally and in my philosophy (which I define broadly to include culture and politics).
In each sphere America took the raw materials I had and allowed them to reach their highest potential and use. I was very much aware as I climbed the ladder here that I was benefitting from a system that represented centuries of Western civilization that ...
... had taken its finest bloom in America, a young nation unconstrained by a long past and history. A country which was a thought leader in its conception of national identity, how to setup institutions that allowed individual human freedom to bloom in every way.
America taught me to be less class conscious, to let go of the vestigial sense of not being part of an established social elite, and to feel confident in spreading my wings. It also taught me to be friendly and helpful to others and to be more civic minded.
When I think about America I don't see a country of deplorables that needs anyone to teach it how to be good. America is already good, although obviously far from an utopia. My 3rd Grader daughter brought home a family identity survey from her progressive private school ..
I was asked to identify my religion, my ethnicity, my native language and score its importance on a scale of 1 to 10. I put down Hindu, my caste (to tweak the PC teachers), and Hindi. I put down a 5 for my religious identity, and a 0 for the others.
I then wrote down on the part that asked "Any other identify important to you" AMERICAN. I put that down as a 10. There isnt any doubt. America is the best country for an immigrant and it is not even close. Moreover I feel completely secure about this self-identified label.
Any such gratitude and appreciation is completely missing from Ilhan Omar. That is why I second the taunts of the crowd: "Send Her Back!". It is not meant literally it is meant to puncture through the Wall of BS that surrounds her persona.
It is meant as a battle cry to show that Americans are proud of this country and don't need Jihadi sympathizing tweeps like her to show how to be a better country.
So I look forward to one day having a chance to attend a Trump rally and have some fun taunting Ilhan Omar I front of the insufferable MSM.
