An excerpt from the deputy log @WPTVContact5 got this week from @PBCountySheriff. Jeffrey Epstein went to his Palm Beach home while on work release. Deputies stood outside. Today - the Sheriff's Office opened an internal investigation into all that. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
Lots of redactions in those deputy logs. Here's another example. It's hard to tell what happened at different times while they watched Epstein during work release. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
.@PBCountySheriff tells us the info is redacted either because of an undercover agent (hence certain name redactions) OR for medical reasons. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV @WPTVContact5
JUST IN: The Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement confirmed to @WPTVContact5 they have NOT been asked to investigate @PBCountySheriff or the Jeffrey Epstein case. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
Just some context here: PBSO is going to internally investigate a policy they wrote. @PBCountySheriff spokesperson Teri Barbera told me yesterday NO ONE outside PBSO approves policy changes within the agency. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV @WPTVContact5 #Contact5
Keep in mind, agencies conduct internal affairs investigations on themselves all the time. And they do it successfully. That being said -- @PBCountySheriff could ask an outside agency to investigate if they felt like there was a conflict of interest. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
We've asked @PBCountySheriff if they would ask a third party to investigate. Spokesperson Teri Barbera told us, "outside agencies do not investigate internal agency policies and procedures." bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
But law enforcement sources tell me if there was even a hint of a conflict of interest, or the misconduct directly involved Sheriff Bradshaw, then yes, an outside agency can and should be called in to run the internal affairs investigation. bit.ly/2YlQjSY @WPTV
Here are some of the rules for Epstein’s work detail. Notice the special order for plain clothes. Epstein wasn’t allowed out of the office, not even for lunch! But we found a deputy log that says he did leave for lunch. @WPTV bit.ly/2YlQjSY
Epstein left his office for lunch. He left to scout for a new office space on Singer Island. He left to go to his Palm Beach mansion, and the deputy who followed him there didn’t even go inside. @WPTV @WPTVContact5 bit.ly/2YlQjSY
