Reflections on the Superhuman onboarding call:

a) I see what the fuss is about regarding the email client.
b) Everyone in SaaS is going to steal ^H^H^H^H^H be inspired by this onboarding format.
c) It is worth your while to experience the call to get a head start on b).
Cannot add sufficient exclamation points; it's nothing you haven't heard of before if you have thought deeply about SaaS onboarding but it's just executed at close to perfection.

I have not been so impressed by software since the Twilio demo.
Also somebody please make a drop-in JS thing for their Ctrl-K behavior because every app with reasonably sophisticated users should have that.

(It combines shortcut key discovery and arbitrary command execution; an "awesomebar" one keystroke away anywhere.)

Many technologists fail to appreciate that security is not something which businesses want to provide at all margins.

(Consumers are similar; they're unwilling to literally or figuratively pay for security at all margins, too.)
However, since security is a sacred value, you're not really encouraged to voice aloud the necessary consequence of this, which is that e.g. there's some level of account takeovers or fraudulent claims or bank robberies which are acceptable losses (to be distributed somehow).

No I'm not. The direct cost of them is clustered around $8k per, which is less than the minimum buy-in for a lawsuit, which is why Don't Be A Hero is the first thing every bank employee learns at every training about this.

Thought I’d share this, and provide the longitudinal observer note that these would be perceived as extreme outlier success N years ago in the community and now are closer to “Solid hiring-on-all-cylinders execution.”
Technology is a thing but not all technology relevant to a software business is in code. A lot of the (e.g.) marketing and sales approaches have been investigated and materially derisked, resulting in less wasted effort for founders trying dead ends.

(Though if one sustains growth like that hiring-on-all-cylinders is a reasonable option if one wants to do that ;) )

Someone could do a brisk business with a SEOified website answering How Do I Get A Copy Of My X for all the relevant Xes and try to get a referral fee for all the various players that will charge for getting an X, either because they custody X or because they’re the expediter.
Think how much search traffic there is for birth certificates, certificate of good standing, etc etc for every conceivable jurisdiction and every user-provided misunderstanding of what the actual document is.
E.g. “You can get a document confirming your Japanese status of residence, often incorrectly referred to as a Japanese visa [a word which the Ministry of Justice’s official docs will never use about this document], by ...”

Excellence is dependent on other people, like judges, examiners, teachers, assessors, inspectors, auditors. But we can't control these people and whether they think we're excellent or not.
