Bottom line from today's hearings

In a world where hot takes, hyperbole and flat out lies capture our attention and embed themselves in our minds, both Mueller the Man and Mueller the Report speak a different language.

1/
For those of us who can speak (read and comprehend) this language (shout out to pal @ElieNYC), we appreciate the magnitude of what Mueller and team have told us through his "speaking indictments" through the report, the March letter to Barr, his brief presser, and today.

2/
@ElieNYC What see that Mueller soberly, methodically, accurately and thoroughly investigated and provided the public with truthful evidence that the President corruptly sought to interfere with the investigation into the Russian government attack on the 2016 election.

3/
@ElieNYC He showed us that the President and campaign welcomed Russian assistance, including encouraging and boosting illegal activity to help Trump. He explained why, despite these actions, he thought the the evidence was not sufficient prove a conspiracy beyond a reasonable doubt

4/
@ElieNYC We understand the constraints in which he believed he was operating (even if we think he could have done more). And, we get that neither he nor the report exonerated Trump because he could still be convicted after leaving office and also subject to impeachment proceedings now

5/
@ElieNYC He stood up to the president's most lies when he said today at the hearing that his investigation "is not a witch hunt" and agreed that it was not a hoax. He also denied he had concluded "no collusion" and "no obstruction."

6/
@ElieNYC Finally, he highlights for us the threat we are still facing and the open work to be done. We still face current and future interference in our elections by Russia and other foreign governments. We still have a president whose loyalty beyond his own pocket book is unclear

7/
@ElieNYC And, most importantly, obstruction, disloyalty and so much more are impeachable offenses. I have a list here from this piece from March published as soon as I read the Barr letter

@ElieNYC As friend @jedshug reminds us, and as discussed today at the hearing, given the statue of limitations on obstruction could run out during Trump's second term, the president will be above the law if Congress fails to begin impeachment proceedings now. It's time.
